Technical Test Lead
Contract to 30/06/2027 with possible extension | Brisbane, QLD | Hybrid Working
Lime Recruitment is currently working with a large Queensland Government client to recruit an experienced Technical Test Lead (API-First Automation & Quality Engineering). In this role, you will combine framework engineering, delivery leadership, and quality strategy to design and implement scalable, API-first automation across a multi-SaaS and integration-heavy landscape to improve release confidence, execution speed, and long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable automation frameworks and reusable test assets across API, integration, and UI layers.
- Drive an API-first testing approach covering contract testing, integration testing, and end-to-end validation.
- Embed automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines and enable reliable test orchestration across environments.
- Lead secure test data management, including provisioning, masking/obfuscation, and lifecycle controls for sensitive data.
- Define and execute compatibility and performance testing aligned to platform scalability and release risk.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership through code reviews, standards, mentoring, and uplift of engineering practices.
- Coach teams and vendors, provide hands-on guidance, run communities of practice, and uplift capability across projects.
- Establish practical quality metrics covering automation health, stability, coverage, and pipeline effectiveness.
About You
- Proven experience in a hands-on Technical Test Lead, Senior SDET, or similar role in complex SaaS and integration-heavy environments.
- Strong software engineering capability in automation, with experience designing scalable frameworks rather than only maintaining scripts.
- Deep experience in API automation, contract testing, integration testing, and end-to-end orchestration.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, test orchestration, and quality gates using GitHub-based workflows.
- Practical experience with test data management and obfuscation using tools such as DataMasque.
- Experience with performance and compatibility testing in cloud-hosted environments.
- Hands-on experience with modern automation tools such as Playwright and Karate across UI and API layers.
- Ability to balance strategic test architecture thinking with hands-on delivery and pragmatic decision-making.
