Senior Data Engineer

Contract to 29/10/2027 | Brisbane, QLD | Flexible arrangements considered

Lime Recruitment is currently working with a large Queensland Government client to recruit an experienced Senior Data Engineer. In this role you will design, build and support scalable data pipelines and reusable data products that enable trusted reporting, analytics, integration and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and support Microsoft Fabric pipelines, lakehouses, warehouses, notebooks, dataflows and reusable data products.
• Move data through raw, transformed and curated layers using agreed layered architecture patterns.
• Ingest, transform, validate and publish data from Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Power Platform, Azure services, legacy platforms and external systems.
• Implement data quality, reconciliation, cleansing, exception handling, logging, monitoring and alerting processes.
• Investigate data issues, complete root cause analysis and support remediation with technical and business stakeholders.
• Support testing, defect resolution, migration cycles, release readiness and operational handover.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, developers, testers and functional teams in Agile delivery activities.
• Prototype data patterns and integration approaches while contributing to reusable standards, documentation and automation.

About You

• Extensive experience delivering enterprise data engineering solutions, with strong hands-on Microsoft Fabric skills across lakehouses, warehouses, OneLake, pipelines, notebooks, dataflows, SQL analytics endpoints and workspace patterns.
• Proven ability to build production-ready ETL/ELT pipelines, transformations, raw, transformed and curated medallion layers, datasets and reusable data products.
• Experience engineering Dynamics 365, Dataverse and Power Platform data, including Fabric Link for Dataverse, Dataverse Link to Fabric, Azure Synapse Link or comparable integration patterns.
• Strong SQL skills with structured and semi-structured data, including profiling, validation, reconciliation, cleansing, troubleshooting, monitoring and operational support.
• Experience supporting Power BI, semantic models, data marts and performance-aware analytical consumption in collaboration with architects and analysts.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent source control, backlog management, CI/CD, deployment automation and release support; strong data quality, lineage, security, privacy, role-based access and governance knowledge.
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical trade-offs clearly, with practical problem-solving skills and Agile experience spanning refinement, estimation, sprint planning, iterative delivery, defects and release readiness.

Contract details

Commence ASAP or by 9 November 2026, with the initial contract ending 29 October 2027 and a possible six-month extension by written agreement. The role is 40 hours per week, with availability during 8am–5pm Monday to Friday. Flexible work location arrangements will be considered.
